Welcome to Bankruptcy Beyond Basics.
Bankruptcy Beyond Basics is designed to provide general research and analysis on issues related primarily to Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, sometimes overlapping with Chapter 11 or Chapter 13, and primarily relevant to bankruptcy trustees and their professionals. Since trustees do not operate in a vacuum, these issues will also be relevant to one or more other parties in a bankruptcy case, sometimes debtors, sometimes creditors, and sometimes both. We hope that this information will edify and enlighten bankruptcy practitioners.
As attorneys, we cannot help but provide disclaimers concerning the use of the information on our site:
- First, this information is general, not related to a particular case. We may discuss hypothetical applications of the information, but you should not utilize our analysis without undergoing thorough research and reasoning concerning the specifics of your case.
- Second, we are human, and therefore fallible. We make every effort to check citations, ensure that we have accurately stated the law (or at least the current state of the debate over the law), and provide supportable analysis. If we fail in any respect, we welcome commentary that would allow us to correct and/or update our information. But please do not use any information on this site without confirming its accuracy.
- Third, we are human, and therefore, by nature, opinionated. The information provided on our site is our “take” on what the law is, or what it should be. Reasonable minds may differ. We will try to be honest about our opinions on the subjects we address. Again, we welcome commentary that challenges our analysis. We may not agree with you any more than you agree with us, but at least we can take your position into consideration in formulating our analysis.
In sum, we hope that our site is useful, but any use of our site, or the information found on it, is at your peril!
We welcome your ideas concerning “hot topics” to address on our site. Shoot us a message on our “Contact” page. We cannot guarantee that we will take your suggestion, or when we might publish an analysis on your suggested topic.
